Hello 2012
9th January 2012l hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and feel ready to start a brand new shiny year.
I lost my phone on holiday, so had a whole 2 weeks of no communication with anyone, didn't go on Facebook once or go any where near a tweet. AND you know what? It felt great. I may even start writing letters to people again.
So as well as regressing in the world of technology on holiday, I read some brilliant books.
'Yesterday's Sun' is an awesome book that'll make you blub at points but in the sweetest way.
My love affair with Agatha Christie is still in overdrive as I tore through 'And then there was One' in a day. What a book! You'll be kept on the edge of your seat 'til the very last page.
Then on to Michael Crichton's 'Micro'. If you love Jurasic Park, this book will feed your habbit for the weird and wonderful perfectly.
Ben Howard also gave me a beautiful book for Christmas, called 'Out Stealing Horses' by Per Petterson. Its a gorgeous slow gentle book that I drifted through nicely.
Film wise, I saw some beauts whilst away.
'My week with Marylin', Michelle Williams is unreal as Marylin. Full on Glamour.
I adore Woody Allen films so loved watching 'Midnight in Paris' on the plane. Funny and quirky as ever.
'Martha Marcy May Marlene', was creepy and dark but beautifully acted and shot.
'Biutiful' is another dark haunting movie that makes you think and again blub a little.
To top it all off nicely, I watched as much 'Modern Family' as I possibly could. Genius comedy if your yet to see it.
So as well as reading/watching dvds/filling my self with amazing Sri-Lankan food, I generally lazed about and enjoyed looking at a light-pollution free, starry sky every night.
Back in the smog and bustle of London town and back to work.
I'll be back on radio 1 as normal, and working on my new 'Very' designs for the rest of the year.
LOVE and PEACE for 2012,
COTTON
